Aschadan

Cedar Heights, not known for its music, but rather its housing development and forward productivity of its many teachers and businessman, has produced its first Reggae Dancehall talent in the likes of Aschadan.

With tracks such as “Shadows After Dark”, and “Mamas Blessings”, receiving consistent airplay, the young talent appears to be on an uprising. Aschadan, pronounced, Asch-a-dan, has performed at numerous venues across the Island, including opening for renowned Reggae acts such as I-Wayne.

His vocal blend with Dancehall pattern uniqueness has made this young artiste a versatile and complete Reggae/Dancehall act, who sounds very much like international sensation Sean Paul. His talent is also couple with wittiness and audacity to push the right buttons whenever necessary. Amongst many, some of his talents include endeavouring in sports like basketball and track and field.

Growing up, Aschadan listened to artistes such as Super Cat, Shabba Ranks and Cutty Ranks, which some say has resulted in his style reflecting a blend of those three artistes combined with St. Lucian originality. He hopes to transcend to the mainstream with his music and evidently, his work is already headed that direction.

SHADOW'S AFTER DARK TEASER

Currently, Aschadan is working on his first Video for a track entitled, “Shadows After Dark” which appears to be Tempo Bound. Aschadan and his beat producer “Enfinite” teamed up to produce the track expressing the lows and struggles of the lower class, and the need to address those problems. Lyrically, the track is spicy flavoured and on a back drop of a commanding blend of soothing musical instruments. It is a track which pulls the musical ordinance of all backgrounds. Its just that type of song that will get you grooving and moving to the beat and listening attentively to the lyrics cause you want to hear what the struggle is.

DD: this song is just real, brings the vibe, tells the story, puts you into the mood and allows you to ponder on life. The beat is off the hooks and complements the vocals.

Presently, Aschadan has recorded numerous tracks, and can easily be found at home near the computer; if not voicing, then maybe writing new material. According to the artist, there isn’t a day he’s not working on new stuff, and even believes that he sometimes has too many, that others get left behind.
